So, your visit to the hotel is over and you need to check-out. Make sure everything is in order—hand back the key card/key, get and pay the bill and, oh, don’t forget your luggage. Can you manage to communicate all this to the hotel staff?

In this Podcast, you will learn:

(1) What procedures to follow when checking-out of the hotel

(2) How to make payment and get a receipt after paying

Chinese words and phrases mentioned in this Podcast:

你好,我要退房:Hello, I want to check-out

This is my key card/room card

The total amount is 800 RMB

How would you like to pay?

Would you like to pay by credit card or in cash?

发票:Chinese invoice

Cultural note: If you are working for a Chinese company and you want to get reimbursement of your hotel expenses, at check-out you should ask for a 发票(Chinese invoice). It’s a special, though common, type of Chinese invoice for claiming reimbursements. In most cases, you should provide your company name as well, then the hotel staff can type the company name on your Chinese invoice.

Can I store my luggage?
