Grammar note: in Chinese, there are many types of verbs to use to match different types of sports: For sports that use hands, we use the verb “打”.

打篮球:play basket

For sports that use feet to play, we use the verb “踢”

Eg. 踢足球:play soccer

Cultural note: in China, the most popular sports are table tennis and badminton. People enjoy watching them as well as playing regularly. Also, Chinese teams excel at these two sports and often win championships in different tournaments and matches such as at the Olympics, Asian Games etc.
