Cultural note: In China, your hometown is where you originate from. There are lots of definitions of hometown in China but, in general, when people talk about their hometown, it usually refers to their grandfather’s birthplace. If your grandfather was born in Beijing, then your hometown is Beijing. However, some people might just simply refer to their father’s hometown, so it varies.
